POSITION SUMMARY

The mandate of the Public Sector Technical Sales Team is to help government, education, and healthcare customers solve business problems by implementing the latest in wireless technologies. Leading customers through their business requirements while translating them into specific system, application or process implementations will be of great interest to successful applicants. Responsibilities will involve consultative, technical discussion with customers on the capabilities, requirements, configuration and usages of RIM's wireless technology portfolio. As a primary development resource, you will be responsible for establishing best practices for developing and deploying custom applications built on top of the BlackBerry platform in large scale environments. Your knowledge of the internals of the BlackBerry software allows you to understand and articulate the complex interactions of the product to both Global Sales technical resources and customers alike. You will assist in the requirements, data gathering, scoping, and development of tools to be used by key customers that will extend the value of their BlackBerry deployments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate's responsibilities will include:

• Interacting with strategic public sector customers in an advisory capacity on BlackBerry deployment and architecture, and application development.
• Collaborating with internal teams to understand roadmap of the development platform and JDE.
• Ability to understand customer business needs and assist them with scoping out development efforts. 

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• The role requires equal parts technical aptitude and business acumen with a consultative approach to find creative solutions to real customer problems.
• Candidates must also possess technical leadership capabilities coupled with project management experience.
• 5+ years experience as a BlackBerry Enterprise Software Developer
• 5+ years experience with at least two of the following RDMBS's: Oracle, DB/2, SQL Server
• 5+ years experience in multi-tier application development utilizing one or both of the .Net framework or J2EE
• 7+ years of OOP and OOD experience
• 5+ years experience in JSP/Servlets or ASP

ADDITIONAL ASSETS

• Very strong communication skills (Oral, Verbal and Written)
• Applicable industry certifications (Java Certified Developer, Oracle DBA, etc.) an asset but experience given definite priority
• Strong organization and time management skills
• Strong customer management skills
